Barry Island – Autumn Beach Walk – 11/11/2024

Barry Island – or BarryBados – as us locals like to call it. Always a popular walk in the winter months as the beach is open to the dogs.

Popular walk as ever with over 30 Welshies bringing along their owners to enjoy the Autumn sun. Most people’s journey started out on a dull grey misty morning – but as we gathered outside the legendary Marco’s cafe the sun and blue skies appeared.

All activity on the promenade came to a standstill at 11:00 in observance of Remembrance Day – and it was good to see many of the dogs wearing their purple Poppies to commemorate all animals who lost their lives in conflict.

We all made our way onto the beach for the obligatory group photo and then off we went to the water’s edge where all the dogs run riot in and out of the water – some being more brave than others. Can’t say we all walked very far – but a great day was had by all on the beach before retiring back to Marco’s for a cuppa.

Many thanks to everyone who turned up and we hope you all enjoyed the day out – and we are already looking forward to the next gathering – which will probably be our New Year Walk at Oxwich Bay on 4th January 2025 – watch this space for more info.

Many thanks to Jan and Sharon for sharing their photos and if you took any photos on the day I’ll add them to this gallery too (they’ll be here forever whereas if you just put them on Social Media they tend to disappear after a while).
